The president of the CISM Sport Committee Shooting, lcol Bruno Wolfensberger (SUI), together with CSC member Brigadier-General Ahmed A Rahman Al-Jaidah (QAT) and vice-president CSC Shooting, lcol Mikko Taussi (FIN) have visited the 2nd CISM Shotgun championships in Doha, Qatar last week. (photo)
Here they discussed the future of CISM shooting as we still don’t have a CISM Military World championship in Shooting for 2014.
In 2015 the Military World Games will take place in Korea. The CISM officials disclosed that Qatar will host the 2016 CISM Shooting and Shotgun Championship.
“The 2016 CISM Shooting and Shotgun Championship will be the first time that both shooting and shotgun championship will be held together. It will be the first time in the 60-year history of the CISM that around 900 shooters from 65 countries will be taking part for a single sport of shooting at CISM,” informed Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Wolfensberger.
Meanwhile the increase of the CSC Shooting is necessary to have specialists of every discipline, in rules and from every continent.
The biggest challenge at this moment is to host the 300 meter rifle. Due to the lack of 300m rifle ranges many countries would like to host a MWC but can not provide enough ranges.
With great support of Lt Col Walter Borghino (QAT) as president of the CISM Sports commission, the 2nd CISM Shotgun championship have been announced a great success for both shooters as well for the officials, other participants and spectators.
